Tornado

This is a conversation from a few weeks ago. Lauren had an appointment scheduled with OB/Gyn Kenobi on the same day that hurricane Wilma was making land fall in Florida.

“I think I will reschedule it my appointment.”

“I don’t think you need to reschedule Lauren. The news says we will only be on the outskirts of the storm.”

“But the news also said there would be high winds and the chance of tornados.”

“I think you should go. It will probably be a pain in the ass to reschedule.”

“I am going to cancel it Bill.”

“Why?”

“What if I am at my appointment and a tornado hits and I don't have my pants on?”

Every woman's fear.

(We had false fire alarms ALL THE TIME in my freshman college dorm. And I was terrified to take a shower because I just knew that eventually it would happen while I was showering. Never did, though.)

That's quite a rational reason... hurricane's don't take into account that your pants are down.

Wow. I'm gonna have to side with Lauren on that one. I mean, seriously, the breeze in the examining room is bad enough! "this might be a little bit cold..."

And Kalki? Nothing says "fun" like standing in 20 degree weather outside your college residence hall with wet hair, fluffy hot pink slippers, and a threadbare ladybug bathrobe. Yeah. That was me. You were right to be afraid. So very, very afraid...

OB-GYN Kenobi, you are one with the force within you.

Nothin' like gettin' hit by a twister when your cooter's exposed. Smart thinking, Lauren.

Good thinking Lauren! I did get caught with my pants off once...it was a fire drill at the military hospital and worse..my Dr. KNEW it was going to happen and still had me get ready for the exam....Bill you listen to that one..she's got a good head on her shoulders! Stacie

I live in L.A., and I really honestly do worry about what happens if an earthquake happens in that case. It really did happen to a friend of mine.

I respected Lauren's brilliance before, but this, THIS, just takes my respect to new heights.

Yes, Lauren. This is a valid fear.

I'm pretty sure all the women are going to side with Lauren on this one.
