Weird

I went to Albertson’s supermarket, during my lunch, to pick up a few odds and ends. Since I was limited on time, I did not walk up down each aisle, but actually paced the front of the store and looked up at each sign that hung in the aisles that indicated what the aisle contained.
The signs read “4A- Soups, Canned goods, Coffee”, “5B- Cleaning supplies, Detergents, Household.” “6A-Snacks, Soda,”

It was typical of every supermarket I have ever been in; the sign indicated a generic description of what was located in the aisle. As I was looking for the aisle for diapers I noticed a sign that stuck out at me. I forget what else was listed on the sign but, what struck me was, one of the items listed was Marshmallows.

I couldn’t believe it. Marshmallows got their own place on a sign. I thought they would fall under a different category like candy, or Baked goods, or snacks. But marshmallows got their very own mention.

I find this to be weird. Do you?

Yes, I think that is very wierd.

'Tis hot chocolate season. Those supermarkets know which aisle their bread is buttered on.

On your lunch break?

Now that is funny !

That is weird, I never really noticed that.

As a grocery store manager in another life, customers would often ask where the marshmallows were located. If you think about it, where would you look for marshmallows if you had to find them? They aren't usually kept with candy, I've found. So maybe the employees got tired of everyone asking for them!

I think it's funny that you posted about marshmallows to distract us from the earlier post about, um, well... NOT about marshmallows.

*heh*

Maybe it's one of those things that no one can ever find and they always ask employees where it is - like a FAQ. So they just decided to put it on the damn sign.

Marhmallows, especially the cute vanilla colored ones-should be in a seperate food group. Put them under the YUM category. 4 servings a day.

Not so weird. I think pickles and canned olives get mentioned in my local grocery...

I wonder if the signs are seasonal?

Then again, I wonder about a lot of things I don't need to, like, what's Huey Lewis been doing lately?

I find it to be pretty darn funny! Obviously, a lot of people making Rice Krispy treats and S'mores out there!

I just wish they would put up a sign where those damn fried onion thingies that go on green bean casserole are.

mmmm, marshmallows....I think now I should buy some jumbo ones and make some rice krispie squares with peanut butter....

I didn't realize they were such a big seller as to have mention made on a sign!

It is weird! Especially since I find that Albertsons signs are more generic then most grocery stores. They must have gotten tired of people asking where they were. You should have asked one of the clerks which isle teh marshmellows were on!

that is very wrong.
is a marshmellow even considered a "food"?

Very weird! I always have to hunt high and low for them...if I look on the baking isle, they're on the candy isle. If I look on the candy isle, they're on the cookie and cracker isle (with the grahams) I wish our store had them marked with their own sign...LUCKY!

Hmmmm, that is weird. Over here they are usually hidden in the baking aisle if you want the mini ones but the big ones must be classed as sweets so they're in the sweets aisle...s

Uh yeah but extremely helpful.

I once had to very nearly make a call to my soon-to-be-ex-husband (at the time) to ask where in the hell the marshmallows were located in the store (as I didn't grocery shop prior to our split)...luckily it was winter and there was an end-cap display of hot chocolate and stuff.

Huzzah, huzzah to your Albertson's!

(yes, you can start laughing at me now...)

Yeah that is super weird! Gonna have to check my Albertsons next time to see if marshmallows were important enough to be listed in mine!

That is strange.

Sounds like some sort of Stay-Puf conspiracy. I'd be careful, if I were you.
