Back to our regularly scheduled blogging

We are back in Florida. All in all, the trip up North was was very nice. I believe everyone had a nice time and that most of our family was happy to see us. My parents were real troopers for having us for two weeks. As we were heading to the PA Turnpike I turned to Lauren and said, "That is the first time, since we moved, that after seeing my mom, she did not cry when we left."

Lauren said, "She was probably happy to get rid of us."

We stayed with my parent's for two weeks.

Granny, my dad's mom, used to say "Company is like fish. After a few days it begins to stink." and I think we were like fish.

I am not saying they did not enjoy our company but with the new surroundings and what not Maxfield was quite a handful. Here is a list of things he did that would not normally happen at my parent's house if there were no kids around.

1. Assisted with breaking one of my mom's Lennox candle holders.
2. Kept removing a decorative plate above the couch. My mom said Max was the only grandkid to attempt it.
3. He peeled the paint from their tv stand.
4. While my mom had guests over for brunch, Max shattered a plate on the kitchen floor.
5. He ripped down her Irish Blessing wall hanging
6. He vomitted all over her couch and my digital camera (which no longer works.).
7. Max put a rock, about the size of a golfball, into the grill of my brothers Jim's mini van. There was no way to get it out. I am sure the rattle is driving Jim crazy.
8. He smashed a toy that Penny (a neighbor) gave him, into several pieces on my mom's kitchen floor.
9. He drew all over my dad's favorite chair with a ball point pen.

OH GOD.

I don't think you'll be asked back.

He only did 9 things? I'm sure that he'll improve that number as he gets older..lol..

You are not "Company". Therefore, you could NEVER stink after 3 days. You are FAMILY! Maxfield is 2 years old! Little children do those things. One can't help when and where they throw up. He was so HOME sick! Max blamed me for his being in strange surroundings. He didn't realize that his own Daddy took him far away from the comfort zone of HOME. The tears were inside, and after you left. I was happy for the little boy who was finally getting to go to his real home. It was like having E.T. with us.. Always wanting to "phone home".. Or like Dorothy in Oz, looking for a way home. But just like Lassie, Maxfield found his way HOME. Bet he is a happy boy now. Miss you all! (been squirting the lemon air freshener around all weekend) Couldn't resist, William! You opened the can of tuna! :) :) :)

That's it? The woman had... what? Nine kids? She's used to little boys. :)

OMG - Big Props to Momo9 and Dad for taking on you all for 2 weeks. My dad would have packed us up in about 2 hours and have the car running. Seriously. I'm not joking.....

Things my children did that would have earned a tongue lashing seem to be mere childhood foibles with my grandchildren. As grandparents, we may not be used to the level of activity, but trust me, we’ll take every moment with them that we can! You’ll understand one day!

My kids always wait for visits to the grandparents to get hurt, so all our family pictures have us with big smiles and bandages.

Sounds like fun though, and you know you'll have the stories of the trip for years.

naughty Max! But, from the sounds of it, your Mom enjoyed having you all there--barfing Max included!

WOW! I dunno if my kids are unreasonably well behaved or boring or WHAT. But I have four kids and in my almost fourteen years of parenting, the four of them put together (three are boys) have not done that much damage! LOL

I don't mean to make you feel bad, apparently this is to be expected and "normal". I guess my kids are not normal. I am constantly being praised and complimented on them and how well behaved and easy to care for they are. When people find out we homeschool, they are shocked and horrified. Well, I guess I am learning if I had "normal" kids, maybe I would want them gone all day like most parents do!! Then I can understand why people are so amazed. I guess I have it very easy!

Glad you had a good trip home:)

Its that kitchen Floor. When other grandkids dropped stuff on the kitchen floor, it used to go right through down to the basement. Now that "two times" fixed it stuff breaks on it.

Yeah there's a reason they call it sibling rivalry and terrible twos! Good luck! He's still the cutest kid in blogland! Stacie

Also, growing up there were no plates on the walls. Can you imagine? That would have been target practice for something.

Wow. You guys are like the worst houseguests EVER.

I kid. Totally joking!

YOu hate me now, don't you?

Maxfield sounds like he'd fit right in with my crew. We stay with my mom for short visits - never more than 3 nights. Mine always manage to break at least 4 things. Bring him by the Pajamas house anytime. Nothing breakable here!

Lord have mercy. The question is not whether these things would happen at your mom's house without kids around, the question is, would they happen at YOUR house?

If Max blinked at your mom and dad with those amazing eyes of his, all would have to be forgiven instantly. You can't begrudge those eyes anything, I'm certain of it. Glad you're home safely.

I feel your pain!!!

Oh, do warranties cover vomit? How about grillrocks? I'm sure your parents will forgive. That's what grandparents do! (Jim, I'm not so sure about.)

It's nice to hear Max is a normal 2 year old boy. We don't hear much of his non-fabulous behavior.

Threw up huh, would that be the day you gave him peas for breakfast, cookies and candy at lunch? And said something about Mom not finding out?!
