Celebrity

I kissed Lauren and the kids and I told them I would see them at home in a few minutes. I ran back into the Chuck E. Cheese to get a jacket that I left at a table covered in pizza and cake and presents from the party we just attended. I was a little frazzled. 90 minutes in Chuck E Cheese with a bunch of 5 year-olds will do that. I said goodbye, again, to the birthday boy's parents and headed towards the door.

A woman, who was not with the birthday party I just attended, stepped in front of me.

"Excuse me."she said. "Are you Poop and Boogies?"

I did not recognize the woman. I looked over my shoulder to make sure she was talking to me.

"Uhmmm. Yeah? That's me. I'm Bill." I shook her hand.

"I'm Erica."

Erica told me she recognized Max and I from the blog and that she thought she recognized my wife Gigglepotamus. I asked her if she knew me and Poop and Boogies from someone else, like a friend or relative of mine. She said no. She said she found P&B a couple of years ago through Nilbo's blog and she has been reading ever since. I was flattered. Erica told me she started her own blog a short while ago.

I looked around to see if any of the parents from the earlier party could hear my conversation. I do not keep the fact that I blog private but I don't really advertise it to other parents either; especially the parents of Max's friends. I tried to think if I wrote any stories about the other parents at the party. I realized I hadn't and felt more at ease. Now, I did not care if the other parents heard that I was recognized for my writing. I have to admit being recognized is good for the ego. I felt a bit cocky and was kind of hoping that they would overhear us talking.

Another woman approached and Erica said. "This is my sister Kristy. She reads the blog too. Kristy this is Poop."

That's right. She introduced me as Poop. Now I was hoping that the other parents could not hear our conversation.

They told me they read P&B everyday and that they enjoy it. They were very nice and it was great to meet them. Erica was very funny. Again, I was very flattered and I felt like a small celebrity. Then they told me that due to their Internet security at work they only have access to very few sites and P&B is one of the "four or five sites that gets through the firewalls".

Basically, reading P&B is better than staring at a blank monitor.

I wonder what the other four sites are?

I just re-read. Let me get this straight.. You looked over your shoulder as if there would be another Poop and Boogies behind you?

I've always thought that reading Poop and Boogies was way better than staring at a blank monitor.

;D

Did you offer her an autograph???

"Thank you for your support...Signed, POOP!" That would be AWESOME!

Did you offer her a free sample?

Well, Poop, this is interesting. I am happy for you (because this pleased you), but I would not want to have such an encounter. That's why no recognizable pix of me on the blog, and no using my real name. I must say, this phenomenon fascinates me, but I do not think I'd be comfortable with it. Different strokes. I think about it a lot, because I think of taking my blog in a different direction, which would require less anonymity. I'll keep watching you, to see how long it takes for the freaks to come out.

Well, it IS better than a blank monitor. Or doing work, for that matter. ;)

So you got that going for you, which is nice.

Also, your new hero name: Super Poop!

Good thing Lauren has already named herself Gigglepotamus. That's way better than Boogies.

Sharkey's comment made me laugh!

Does that make the boys or the Mrs. 'Boggies'?

"Poop!" [cackling with laughter]
Well, Chuck E Cheese is from another dimension...

I'd like to think that no one I know locally reads my blog. I do know that friends from other places check in from time to time. But mostly I blog for relationships with imaginary people like yourself.

'Mr. Poop' to you. Show some respect.

I've tried your blog at work. Only during my lunch hour, and in the lunch room.
You are blocked, Mr. Poop! The NHS will NOT tolerate such fun and frivolity for their employees.
So sad.

That was hilarious. Hi Poop, where's Boogies? OMG... Lauren is boogies. That's too cute. Can you autograph a pic for me too? Mr. Poop? (our firewall lets you through too, here in the Netherlands...you pronounce "POOP" as "POPE"... now THAT would be funny... you as the Pope. :o)

That is SO cool! If I saw you in person I too would ask if you were "Poop" not even remembering that your name was Bill. LOL! Keep up the great work!

William, Congratulations on your celebrity. This has happened to me as well. If someone knows me I tell them they are not allowed to read!!!! They keep better track of my life than I do and then quiz me on my own life!!! "I thought you said...." "How did you... when you were..." I find myself having to defend my own life!
If I saw you out and about, I would be sure to tell you I was a fan! E

My family has been recognized quite a few times. It can be rather scary. But at least I'm not poop.

Hmmm, your site gets through the firewall? Maybe you aren't dropping enough f-bombs.

Food for thought, Poop. ;)

Okay, now it's my turn to say that I thought I commented on this post but apparently didn't.

And I think you should be VERY proud to be one of several sites that includes Betty Crocker. And QVC.

Soon you'll be a household name. You already are here in this household.
