Do you think it is weird and funny that when a person eats the last of something, they technically (at least in my mind) ate the entire thing?
For instance, say there is ice cream in the house and person X ate 90% of the ice cream but person Y eats the last 10%, person X can say with disbelief, shock and disappointment, “You finished the ice cream?”
Or in another example, person X eats all but four M&M’s and then hands the bag to person Y and say very generously and charitably and kindhearted, “No, go ahead, You can finish them.”
In your household, is it automatically assumed that if a person eats the last of something that technically that person ate the whole thing?

If I ate the last of it, then no! ha! But if the hubs ate the last of it, then by all means!
That seems to be the rule of thumb here. As is when cereal is poured, whoever touched the box and or milk last has to put it away. Some house rules just caan't be explained. :)
Lois Lane
the last of anything if taken, the person who took it is responsible for the whole of said item. Dribbles of milk in the bottom of the pitcher for example. Last scoop of icecream. etc.
I think i like that idea...I will be so thin knowing I didnt eat it all!
At our house, it doesn't so much matter whether you're responsible for having finished it; what matters is whether you replaced the roll of TP.
If you replace it quickly with something of better or equal status you are in the clear. So, if you finish the chocolate chip cookies, but immediately replace them with double fudge brownies, it doesn't really matter who ate the cookies now does it??
I don't follow. If they finished it they finished it, but that in no way implies they ate the whole thing.
Hmmm, you really get me thinking William.
But no. I do not think that whoever ate the "last of it" in turn "ate all of it". Just the remainder...that's all.
I do think that whoever finished it off, should discard of the empty container though. No leaving ONE stinking spoonful of something and saying..."Well I left that bite FOR YOU!"
Well, as long as Lauren is pregnant, she is right, and not to blame, especially for eating stuff.
If person X eats all but 4 of the M&M's and hands the bag to person Y.. that's absolutely hilarious and something I would do. (But only to my hub because he usually eats the whole bag and won't even save me FOUR of them.)
In this case, however, Person X did eat the majority of the M&m's and therefore, Person Y is innocent by default.
In the ice cream incident, person X is extremely guilty of shifting the blame onto person Y. Person X is practicing passive agressive behavior. (g)
Person Y, did..in fact, FINISH the ice cream, however, he/she did not eat ALl of the ice cream.
I go through this with my teenagers and believe me, I'm one step ahead of the law here. ;)
I mean, you know, if this were to happen at Casa Poop and Boogies.
Yeah no, we don't do that. But I'll tell you what I do do (heh - doo-doo) that is remotely similar (but not really). I will worry about something insignificant and worry and worry and then when it all turns out fine I'll turn to Rob and say, "SEE? I told you it would be fine! Geez, I don't know WHAT you were so worried about!"
Golly he loves that.
No. No matter how much you try churchin' it up William...you ate it all...and you should have bought more M & M's and ice cream for Lauren. She's pregnant.
Now if she ate it all and only saved you a little..well then you need to be quicker and on your toes...but always replace it because she is pregnant. The baby wants it. Don't deprive the baby William for hells sake.
If you kill it ...You fill it
It does sorta seem to work out that way. LOL
Though in our house if you are the first kid done eating then you put the food away (after Mom makes sure everything's ready to be put in the fridge. *smile*.

...it all depends on the food/drink in question. Thin Mints, M&M's, Ice Cream, Peanut Butter Cups, Milk and Mountain Dew are all subject to immediate accusal. Everything else... who cares; they're not part of the three basic food groups (Chocolate, Milk, and Mt. Dew) anyway.
Oh yeah. In our house, the last whatever would just sit there for the longest time, because no one wanted to A)clean the dish/bowl (if said item was encased in something) or B)be labeled "the pig".
