Monster Squad

I prefer scary Halloween costumes over the super hero or movie character variety. I was very happy when Maxfield said he wanted to be a skeleton. I was even happier when our friend Kristan lent us a skeleton costume. Wyatt, who wanted to be Iron Man, and then a robot, and then Wolverine, made me happy when finally decided he wanted to be a mummy. Lauren took an old bed sheet, tea-stained it,tore it into pieces and zip-boom-viola, a cheap mummy costume. Lauren decided she would recycle an old Frankenstein costume for Jackson. Our Halloween costumes were cheap and scary, kind of like a "Fish-Town" hooker.

Here is the monster squad- Skeleton, Mummy, Frankenstein and the Blob.

Is it me or does your hair and the Frankenstein hair look exactly the same. I know there was the George Clooney cut a few years back. Maybe you are starting a trend?

Now that is a neighborhood watch team.

Excellent costumes. Having been raised in a church that doesn't "approve" of Halloween, I still shy away from scary, "dark" costumes, and have always steered my kid clear of them. I do love the dress-up aspects of Halloween, though. Your littles (and their mama, no doubt), illustrate the point I was making to my husband and daughter about the importance of the right face painting to go with the costume. So many kids -- tigers, a giraffe, a skeleton -- showed up here last night with bare faces. What the hell kind of neglectful parenting is THAT?! Great job on the costumes and faces.

Truly some of the most adorable monsters ever. I'm with you. I prefer monster costumes. 'Tis the season and all that. However, a few modifications on that mummy costume and you've got a decent Anakin Skywalker from The Phantom Menace. Of course, that movie was so bad, I'd definitely stick the the monster thing!

And everyone looks appropriately scary.

I love the Frankenstein, but they're all good.

very cute! Well done Lauren!

Why is it that at 5 minutes before going out for trick-or-treating, my daughter decided she didn't want to be a pumpkin, stripped off her costume and cried until she was allowed to wear the flower costume that her sister had worn to the get-together the day before?! It fit her, but just barely....she didn't want to wear the pumpkin costume last year either--too scary? It was so cute...Her sister wasn't going out trick or treating anyways, (the only reason I gave in) but still, this had better not happen again!

The face paint on that skeleton is perfect! What sweet little monsters you have!

Can I borrow your picture of Max? Because he looks just like my Thing One.... make-up and all - and I didn't get a picture with my camera. Yeah, I know. Bad mummy.
Did Lauren follow the directions on the back of the face paint package? It is eerie how similar I did it as well. And did you have difficulty getting the black paint off on the first washing? And finally, did you get the face paint at your local grocery store as I did?
Hilarious.
Yeah, the gloves were a tad too long for Thing One as well.
Go read my post re: Halloween. I'm telling ya, this holiday will eventually be the death of me with all of the costume changes we deal with. No pun intended.

Cool costumes!

I have always found The Blob to be the Rodney Dangerfield of scary monsters.

Awesome. I've always wanted to go as a mummy. Someday.

you guys are funny,

(I originally typed "guts" instead of "guys", which I guess goes along well with the monster theme).

This won't have effect in reality, that's exactly what I think.
