Robots Vs. Zombies

My friends and I have have debated this topic in the past. It is a conundrum with logical arguments that cannot be answered until after the fact. It is kind of like discussing who should be picked second in a fantasy football draft. There is no real correct answer until after the season is over.

I am taking a break for a few days so in my absence I will Leave you with this question.

In the future, when the world ends in an apocolyptic war, who wins in a fight between zombies and robots?

Discuss amongst yourselves. I look forward to reading everyone's arguments.

The robots will win because they have no fleshy brains to be eaten.

Well, you can't kill a zombie, but you can disable a robot, so if the zombies get any of the thinking power from those brains they eat, then totally the zombies over the robots.

I vote robots. Zombies will only survive as long as there are other living things that they can turn into zombies, and if the world is ending in an apocalyptic war, I have to assume that a large portion of the human race has been wiped out with it. Robots can continue to build themselves, establishing complete domination.

Oh god...that is maybe the dorkiest thing I have ever written.

Robots because they don't have real brains, so the Zombies can't eat them. Even if the Zombie did bite the robot, he/she wouldn't turn into a Xombie because they are not human. Sounds good to me

I'm a nerd, therefore the robots I create and leave to rule the planet will be evolving beings that will defeat the sorry zombies.

woooooo, scary zombies don't stand a chance against my robots.

It depends...do we assume that the robots have some level of artificial intelligence but are controlled by a secret surviving pack of humans?

Are the robots programmed to destroy zombies? Or have the robots evolved in some way to think for themselves but the remnants of the programming remain and thus they have a built-in hate for zombies?

The zombies don't seem to think much at all and just seek brains to eat. To be perfectly honest, unless the robots attacked the zombies, I bet the zombies wouldn't give the robots a passing glance. No brains, no lunch, no interest in robots.

No one wins!

Robots all the way.

Robots because zombies would starve or eat each other if there were no people left. Also, Robots can be programmed to think, and zombies are just zombies. They can't reason.

Well, it depends. Are the robots the cool, Japanese, gigantic, transforming robots? Or are they the plastic, cheap ass made in Mexico ones? The Japanese ones would rule. The Mexican ones would probably get slapped around by the zombies.

Zombie by the Cranberries or Mr Roboto by Styx? That is the real question.

All you Zombies hide your faces.

I prefer the ninjas vs. pirates debate, myself.

Didn't you see Wall e? The robots obviously "win"!

I think it starts out as a draw. They are both slow, relatively lumbering entities. The lack of human existence, assuming all was wiped out in the apocolyptic war, makes life as zombies know it quite a bummer. Sure, they may turn their attention toward the roborts, but because robots have the equivalent of mechanical brains, they don't meet the brain-eating needs of zombies, thus rendering robots both awesome and a poor nutritional outlet for the zombies.

This makes me rather sad, of course, because I have a soft spot for zombies. Zombies, of course, dig that soft sopt because it makes it easier should the need ever arise for them to slurp out my juicy innards.

I say Robots. The zombies will starve with no brains to eat.

When you say "robot", do mean small mechanical items like my toaster? I'm pretty sure the toasters would be indifferent to the conflict. They would be the Switzerland in zombie v. robot. Plus, wouldn't zombies eventually decompose?

TOASTERS, I mean, ROBOTS RULE!!

Zombies will win! According to Wikipedia (I am such a loser today!) some species of Zombies are known to be the spirit of a dead person...thus they will never end. Uh-Oh...do Robots have spirits? I guess I am off to Wiki once again!

Robots because logically the zombies will rot faster than the robots. However because I am a zombie fan I say zombies will rip apart the robots and then decompose out of existence. Thereby nullifying both races.

Oh and I ran into your blog via Interior Intimo Meo. Thanks.

I have NEVER considered this question, I love the internet that makes me think of things I have never thunk of before. I totally agree with the robots are faster theory...

Robots...they can recycle. Zombies will rot.

Oh without a doubt, robots will survive in the end. Robots do not need living flesh and brains to survive on, thus enabling them to live forever. Unless, of course, the zombies are able to evolve, as they did in George Romero's "Land of the Dead". Now, if they can gain some type of defense or life skills, the robots may have a little bit of a problem on their hands. If the zombies are able to tear the robots apart, or destroy them, all the robots have to do is hide out in inpenetrable areas. They do not need food or nourishment, as humans do, so they do not need to venture out, and the zombies will eventually waste away, with no flesh to consume.

Are the zombies heavily armed?

Well ... If the final battle comes down to a dance off ... The robot is lame compared to dancing zombies ... Come on! You've seen the Thriller video.

I'd go for robots, although if it was raining they would short circuit. Wouldn't zombies eat eachother if there was nothing else? I don't think I've seen enough zombie films to comment, although I did see 28 Days Later last week.

I'm on the fence.

I'd have to vote for the robots. Zombies never seem smart enough to accomplish anything. Of course there was that one...

The Boisverts said...

Zombies b/c they can't die, right? And robots would eventually need repair or charging of batteries or something...c'mon, everything "electronic" malfunctions at some point. The zombies, even if "killed", would just come right back to life after, b/c that's what zombies do, right?

Unknown said...

Hmmmm, I'd say robots. Why? Cause zombies scare me.

Anonymous said...

Neither.
Ants and cockroaches will be the only survivors of the apocalypse. Nothing seems to be able to kill those little devils!

Mmmmm...brains!

MELINDA'S ANSWER MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD! I agree with her, ants and cockroaches and mice and rats will go on and on and on. The rats and mice will eat the Zombies, and the ants and cockroaches will climb into the robots and cause malfunctions. momo9

It will end in a union and Zombie Robots will live on, sort of...

I must preface this by saying that I'm a robot maker. Robots would win case closed.

Thanks, momo9! Glad I made you laugh.
It seemed the obvious answer.

The Robots unleash a swarm of Tx-10000's, aka the Terminator meets Giant spider meets Chuck norris. And the zombies all die.

Also the Robots get aircraft and bomb the crap out of the zombies until they're all dead again. Plus, Robots are MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger than zombies. One punch and the zombie's head is destroyed and zombies cannot function without their heads, so they lose horribly.

Did I mention the swarm of Terminator's?

Yo Whatsupdog said...

You have to have specifics in mind.

Are the zombies Romero or O'Bannon, or Lugosi (old school)?
Are the robots Terminators or Johnny 5s, or Robby the Robot(again old school)?

Can they coexist?

The robots will win. They will eat the zombies. And the trees. And the kittens.

Robots win. All robots need to do to survie is to be reapaired maintained by ohter bots and be recharged. Robots can use guns swords, axes, lasers, any weapon that comes to mind. zombies just eat brains and flesh. they cant use tools. Their are stupid as hell, and get stomped easily by cybernetic beings such as robots, whaick can be armed to the entirty of its being. Robots can think, zombies cant. Robots can smash through walls. Zombies cant. Robots can be mass produced in the thousends every few hours. zombies need living beings. Robots PWN the Zombies.

Zombies will win- the robots will need to enslave humans for power generation etc. zombies entering the human ranks will screw up their plans as zombies give off no heat (remember the Matrix?) plus robots favor infared sight. zombies will be invisible to them!

zombies can exist just fine without brains to eat. they just really prefer to eat them.
