Blogging Milestone

Some time this past week, one of the stat counters I use to track visits to Poop and Boogies registered that this here blog had its 500,000 page view. Since March of 2005 this blog has been viewed half a million times. I know that that number is nothing compared to what other blogs get, but it made me smile to see that number on the site meter.

One of the tracker services I use has a map that shows where certain visits come from. Sometimes I click on the pushpin icons to see "who" is visiting. I am always curious to see where they are from. I get visists from the offices of Dupont, USA Today, The Department of Justice, The State of Texas Attorney's General Office, Nicholas Spark's agent's office (psst, call me) LaSalle University, The US Post Office and various other businesses.

Some of the pushpins I can tell are from other bloggers. I see one from Portsmouth VA I immediatley think it is Bogart. I see a push pin from Denver I think it must be GreebleMonkey. If I see one in DC I think it must be Cat or RudeCactus. The pushpin from Rome has got to be the Pope, because I am sure one day he was doing some ego surfing and was googling his name and what not and he fat fingered the keyboard and accidentally typed "poop" and found my blog and now he is a regular reader.

I have not reached 500 K visits yet (just pageviews) which is my next goal. Hell, I may be reading my stats all wrong but a half million hits by the end of the year would be pretty cool. I know there are people out there that link this site over the past few years and I want to say thank you to them. I really do appreciate it.

I do not do a blogroll but, every now and then, I list some of the blogs I am currently enjoying.
Besides the ones I mentioned above here are some of my current reads.

A Year Here and Year There , Eclectic, Gigglepotamus, Bossy, Klog, Raising the Boys, Rattling the Kettle , Cynical Dad, Creative Type Dad, April, The Donovan Clan, Practically Wisdom, Mindy.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who stops by here. I am always amazed at how people have found this site. I know it is difficult to remember what brought you here but if you could leave a comment and tell me how you found me, where are you on my pushpin map I would love it.

And again Thank You.

I was told to come here to keep up with you and your family and that you would be funny. At least I get to keep up with your family.

Poop and Boogies goes "Gold". (I think Gold is 500,000 copies). I wonder what the plaque will look like. Congratulations ( 50,000 hits are probably from me).

Congratulations :)
I found you after you found me. And I'm very happy that you did. And then I did. Happy.

I was not ego-surfing! I am your poopy pope viewer from Rome and I found you through the Blogfathers a long time ago.

You're on my blogroll cuz I love the name, you have great stories to tell, you're funny and you have such cute kids!!

I think I found you off of somebody's else's blog but don't remember. I have been reading you since around Nov 2007. my wife and I are on a work assignment for two years in Montpellier France. So you probably see a push pin in France someplace. That would be me. Although, I read you off google reader most times. I will be returning to New York in a few weeks so my pushpin will move about 4000 miles to the left. You have a pleasant writing style and posts usually hit home. Keep it up.

I suspect I "stumbled" on you at some point and then stuck around.

I'm coming in from Philadelphia -- more specifically West Philly.

I'm representing Abington & your site was highly-recommended by your sister-in-law Carolyn (an OLD SJU teammate of mine...although I'm not old like her!)

I'll always fondly remember when you were just a 4-7 comment guy pushing your poop and boogie talk. Now see how you've grown! Thanks for the shout out.

I completely forget how I found you - maybe just the "next blog" blogger button? Whatever it was - it was my lucky day.

I'm in Massachusetts!

Good for you!

I'm pretty sure that I found you through Random and Odd... and then forced everyone I know to come and read because you're so great! I love your funny stories, and you throw in just enough heartwarming stuff to balance it out. You blog often enough to keep me entertained, too - which is always a plus. You're the Cal Ripken of blogging. :-)

Jen said...

I believe I found you on Random and Odd. You have fantastic humor! :-)

Practically Joe said...

Poop and Boogies ... What can I say ... I'm a sucker for both ... So I'm sure I saw the words on someone's blogroll and couldn't resist a lookie. I'm always entertained here so I keep coming back. There aren't many new sites I follow where I've actually looked back at old posts to see what I've been missing. BTW ... I don't comment on the old ones in fear you may think I'm stalking you. Thanks for the link love. I'm truly honored that you come by.

Thanks for the shout. I found you a million years ago, and have not been able to stop reading ever since. You're one of the bright spots in my personal internet sky, Bill.

Delurking to say I found you through Random & Odd. Or maybe I found her through you, in which case I have no idea how I found you. Somehow, there is a connection there, though, so it counts! I'm in Eugene, Oregon!

Congrats! I've been lurking from San Diego for a few months now and found you through Bogart - he said it would be a great read and he was right! I have 2 girls about your boys age so it's fascinating to read how different our worlds are (my girls have never locked each other in a cage!!)

I don't remember how I found you... probably just noticed your name on someone's blogroll, because it's funny. I'm in southern Oregon.
Congrats on the 500,000!

Thanks again for the link...Claire and I will be visiting up your way in the next few months...will let you know when we do.

And I found you through the article at Time/CNN last year...remember? The one where they said you clearly were not a writer! I remember that...I also know that your site is the only one on that list that I still visit.

Suck it CNN/Time Blogger.

I found you last year sometime through a link on my friend's page (http://lavidadulce.wordpress.com). I have enjoyed keeping up with you. Actually, during a really boring night a couple of weeks ago at work I went back through all of Poop and Boogies from the years past and read everything you wrote. I literally Laughed Out Loud many points during it, getting more than one weird look from my coworker.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ.

I read a blog that listed someone else in her blogroll. I went to his blog one day and he was up for some blogger award, and wanted people to vote. I went to the awards and Lawnwhisperer was listed there, so I voted for him instead because I thought he was funnier than the first guy and found your blog through your brothers.

I'm in Arizona, but for some reason, my blog stats show as Denver, Colorado. Though I'm sure I'm not all your Denver hits!! :-)

I found you through Random & Odd, as well. AND it was an added bonus that you were from the Philly area. So I said "I have to bookmark this dude".

I just moved my blog and am building a new blog roll. I'm putting all the links on a Word document until I have more time later tonight to actually put them on my blog. I included you. And ummmmm, 500,000 is A LOT! I hvae had my blog since June of 2005 and have only had 50,000 at most. I must say though that for a while I didn't have a stat counter, and I did lose it at one point when I switched to wordpress. But still, I think I'd know if I were anywhere in that 500,000 neighborhood.

Good job, you are obviously doing something right!

I found a link to you on another blog. It said that you were funny, especially a certain story (which I don't remember now), and I clicked, and read, and laughed, and read some more. I am your middle tennessee push pin. the geographic center of the state even.

500,000 visits is too low a bar. You should go for 500,000 unique visitors.

Thanks for the link love.

Hello from another Canadian pushpin! I'm in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada (on the east coast of Canada ... northeast of Maine). I think I may have caught a comment or two of yours from my dad's blog (Truths and Half Truths), or else I just followed the link on there. He'd be the other PEI pushpin. And I think my sister stops by from time to time.

I think I found you from one of your smart-aleck comments on Susie's blog. Started reading you before Wyatt was even a twinkle, because I remember your hidden comment that you and Lauren were expecting your second baby.

Hi Bill!
I found you randomly from someone else's blog years ago, before Wyatt was born. I think I've commented once or twice before, but nothing memorable, lol. I'm from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and I have enjoyed every post you've published. You writing covers a wealth of emotions and you're so funny! You rock....eh! Kelly :)

a friend of mine has you linked from his blog. the first post i read was about how hard you sleep at night "you want a roll-o?"

i died laughing there and have been hooked since.

Isn't it mind boggling how the internet brings us together like this? Much better than singing "Hands Across America" or picketing or whatnot.

I found your blog through Nicki's "iwright" blog. Not sure if you know her. I have no idea how she found yours. The first post of yours I read, I almost died laughing and I've kept up with it since then. You bring out so much humor from your life. I love it.

I don't really remember how I found you - a comment on someone else's site? Or my co worker. One or the other - I can barely remember last week, let alone that far back! Anyway, I would be an Ohio push pin. ;)

OK i found your blog because a regular blog i read posted you as a link to look at while she took a week off with the family. That first week i think i went through and read EVERy post, i just couldn't stop reading!!

I love reading and i check pretty often to see what is going on with your family. I love your take on things in the world, and your stories always make me laugh out loud. I even read/check Gigglepotomus (very talented wife as well) all the time.

So finally i delurked a few weeks ago with a post about chutes and ladders, and kids being too spoiled. And i think i told your wife how cinnamon is poisonous to ants ( really important topics!! ) but this will be my first signed post.

thanks for the laughs and stories!

First of all - Thank YOU for the shout out. I feel honored because I am a huge fan of yours. So not to get all sappy on you, it just means a lot that you take the time to read all my ramblings.

Second - Thank you for all the thoughts, stories, pictures and whatever else you share. This is definitely one of my favorite sites.

Third - I got to you by linking from one blog to the next, I am not even sure how. The first post I read was about the card you made Lauren for Valentines day. I laughed so hard I had tears rolling down my face. I have been a faithful reader ever since. You had me at "abducted and probed."
