How good she has it

Last week, Lauren and I were in bed watching Super Nanny. I don’t watch Super Nanny for the parenting tips. I watch it to feel better about how my kids behave. The kids on that show are edited to make them look like little demons and I always think, “At least my kids are not that bad.”

The other thing that Super Nanny shows is how, most often, one parent, usually the dad, is not pulling their own weight when it comes to raising the kids. The episode we were watching, the dad would come home from work and immediately go to the gym. He would not be around to give the mom a break.

I turned to Lauren and said, “See how good you have it Lauren? I don’t go to the gym.”

She turned her head slightly in my direction, her eyes scanned my body and they stopped at my belly. She said, “Oh, yes, I know that.”

you need to stop and think before you speak.

why do you give her such good lines to use against you?

maybe it's time to start to the gym and leave her alone with the kids?

Delurking again to say that is very witty - for both of you. LOL

She might not notice your belly if you had nice shoes on. (Just sayin...)

I totally watch Super Nanny for the same reasons... selfish validation. Works every time. Gym schmim. I believe you shouldn't run unless something big, scary & hairy is chasing you.

Hey . . . I saw that episode (for the same reasons you listed - so I feel like my kids are angels)!!

Lauren should've looked back at you and said "see how easy you have it" because that mom was . . . er, rough, to say the least!

Yeah. You're right. My EX-husband used to go to work at 6am, come home at 7pm and eat the food I had at his place for him and then by 7:30pm be out the door for the gym or tennis until about 10pm. Saturdays and Sundays were no exceptions. Except that he usually fit a nap in there somewhere. Which is just a hint about the kind of marriage I was in...note "WAS". Heh.

Super Nanny. Can't / won't watch it. Ever!

I'm sure Lauren would much rather have you home with a little paunch than have you bulked up but absent!

Hehehe...my husband does go to the gym but I usually go too and we both take the kid and leave him with the childcare people. But he still has a very soft round belly.

You don't go the gym, but you Do go out with friends at night. Play softball one night a week. Lauren has not gone out one night since she got here!!!!! Oh, I'm sorry! You did take her for a walk one night for half an hour. A walk!!!!! She cooks everynight(yum, yum:) She takes care of your beautiful boys. Yes, William you could do more. Don't go patting yourself on the back yet! Who has done all the "Housing" research? Lauren has a full day! I am one who knows!!!

By the way, It was not my liquor cabinet! Darn! Wyatt plays in my tupperware cabinet. Not a very exciting household here! That's why they all like it better at Mom-Mom's house!!!

Around here, we call that "the pooch" -- not to be confused with the dog! Pooches get poked and squeezed, but with love and affection!

And, yes, I too vote for pooches if the alternative is bye! Gym!

Your mom just spanked you on your own blog, dude.

I LOVE IT!

and we just had the same sort of conversation last night about how the Supernanny always deals with deadbeat dads. Ironic! My husband exercises after the boy is in bed.
