She is a whore.

So I finally got around to watching the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy. I watch a lot of television but I do not watch a lot of shows. Grey’s Anatomy is one of the shows that I watch. I only have 3 “must watch shows’ a week. Lost, The Office and Grey’s Anatomy. I like the writing, even the cheesy bits. I like the cast and the acting. I think there is a good chemistry between most of the characters. I think all in all it is a really good show.

What I think makes this a good show, for me, is that I have come to have an interest in all of the characters. Not the actors but the characters. When discussing the show with Lauren or people at work I refer to the characters names not the actors. I look forward each week to see what the characters are going to do. When they do something idiotic I don’t get mad at the writers like I do on most shows, I get mad at the characters. I am emotionally vested in the characters.

Here is what I thought about the season finale.

Denny dies. Good. This guy reminded me of someone I know but could not place my finger on it. It was always on the tip of my tongue but I never could place him so every time he was on I would rack my brain trying to figure it out. I still haven’t. I am glad he gone so I don’t have to worry about who he reminds me of.

Izzie, I am sorry your weak, helpless lover boy is gone. Apparently you have this thing for weak, helpless, sick men. He died. Stop pouting. Your Prom dress was ugly.

Yang, I always pegged you for only liking Burke because he is the best. But now that he may be down, you don’t like him so much. You only like strong men, healthy men who are at the top of their game. You are the Yang to Izzie’s Yin. I can see you dropping Burke the second he drops a scalpel.

George. Beauty and Beast is you new relationship. You are the beauty. That is a hint.
Alex you surprised me this week. You are still a jerk but a good jerk.

Meredith last episode you told Derek Shepherd that “he can’t call you a whore.” You were all indignant and up in his face. Well guess what? You were on a date with the vet guy (pssst. It is actually Robin from Batman and Robin). Derek was on a date with his wife. You and Derek meet up in a room and you let him bang you. That makes you a whore. Now I know he is Dr. Mc Dreamy and I even I would let him have his way with me even though I am a straight male. But he is married. So you are a whore. Or a slut.

Oh and sorry about you dog dying.

I can't say that I watch the show but when a straight guy says another guy is "Dreamy" and you would let him have his way with you.... well now I guess I am going to have to watch a re-run or something. I mean, this is not an everyday occurence in my life to hear something like that so I must see what the big deal is about...
I don't watch any of those shows but I do watch AI so that I can sit there and enjoy making fun of Paula... I will be sorry to see it end.

Great post! Yeah good thing you didn't read my blog first. I agree with everything you said except the part about Izzie's prom dress. I thought she looked spectacular.

To the author of Poop and Boogies:

In your bio it says you are male and heterosexual. Is this one of those internet hoaxes where you are actually a 36 year old housewife?

Thanks for the take on the season finally and characters. I love Greys Anatomy that and big love are really the only shows I WATCH! I agree with being vested in the characters on GA but I will say Derek is the one who is married not merideth so doesnt that make him a whore?

Happy thursday!

I love Grey's Anatomy, House, Numbers and Criminal Minds.

I loved her dress too and thought she look fabulous. I didn't want Denny to die...yet. I was hoping they might drag out a little romance for Izzy while he was healthy. Plus, while he wasn't a McDreamy, he was a good guy and I wanted to get to know him more.

I got really pissed when Merideth let McDreamy bang her again. I didn't get caught up in their passion. I didn't think they were romantic. All I kept saying was "you're gonna get caught!".

Alex is a typical good guy when... he needs to be. He's human and acts it. I like the surprises with him. Everyone else's character is pretty predictable.

he is oh so McDreamy and I guess I would have to be a whore because I would have done the same thing...sure would have...hehehehe...i want them to bring back McSteamy

Just like tbg said, doesn't it make the married guy a whore?? Or a total jerk?? Why is it that women in these situations are looked at as sluts or whores, yet HE made the choice to bang someone who is not his wife. What does that make him???

Hey, guys can watch Grey's Anatomy. We should probably refer to Patrick Dempsey's character as Derek, though.

Interesting take on the show. I like Callie because she is, in every possible way, the anti-Meredith. And that can only be a good thing.

After ignoring it when it came out, I grew to enjoy the show because of the cast, and am now devoted to all of the characters. Scratch that -- all of the supporting characters.

I do agree with Meredith on one thing: Derek cannot call her a whore.

But we can!

Slut, maybe. Whore? Nah. Unless he was paying for the goods.

I don't watch this show, by the way, so I have no idea what you were talking about.

Love your take on the GA finale. However, she's not a whore - she's simply easy. Being a whore implies a level of giving it up that she hasn't sunken to - not yet anyway. Maybe next season she'll reach whore, but so far, just easy.

OK, this is the second site that has recapped the Grey's episode...anyone want to fill a girl in on the Desperate Housewives show? Apparently they don't run that in Mexico.

I, too, would like to add that Derek is the married one who, in fact, did the "banging". Meredith is fragile woman that he "broke" when he failed to tell her that he was married and then ruined her life when his estranged wife showed up. She is not a whore for having sex with him, she is in love with him (my heart broke on sunday when she cried in Finn's arms, saying "I love him" because we know that it was Derek that she was talking about, not Doc)!!! I am so sad because I feel that it was good-bye sex not a rekindling of their relationship. The abrupt way that their romance ended needed some closure and a way to say goodbye, so I think that is what happened on Monday night's episode.
Also, since you say that you watch The Office, are you angry at Pamela for kissing Jim at the end of the episode, is she a whore? I know that she is engaged, not married, but still a commitment is a commitment. Don't pick and choose who you label.

Thanks for the update. I was SO MAD when I realized I missed both nights of the finale!

Ooooooooo William, you done stirred up a hornet's nest now! I don't watch any of the shows you listed, and haven't the first idea about any of the characters, but I have to agree with those who point out that it's pretty whore-ish for a married man to be banging someone else that's not his wife.

What happened to Burke?

Why did all of the women in the "suck up" crew become so weak in this episode?

Izzy...I wanted to smack her upside the head. But then, I always want to smack her upside the head. She drives me crazy with her whiny blond immaturity.

And Cristina, who walked out of the operating room instead of having the inner strength to help Burke through the surgery!! Arrrgh! Even if she couldnt face it, she should have sucked it up and stood by him, because what he was facing was far greater than the sum of her fears.

and Meredith! what were you THINKING? Tell Dr. McWuss that it's time to poop or get off the pot! No more operating room sex till he's single again! Why should he deal with divorce when he's getting it on the side for free? I've come to like his wife and she doesn't deserve what he's putting her through. Besides, I'm thinking of taking a job in the same hospital...

The only woman who remained strong in this episode was Dr. Bailey. Girl, you Rock! I loved it when she called the crew "suck ups". And she showed she has a soft spot in her heart for the crew when she came up with her "hypothetical theory."

I'm gonna miss Denny. :(

And I liked Izzits prom dress.

"I just read your comment over at Poop and Boogies. I think Derek is just as guilty but he was not all indignant with the "whore" speech as was Meredith the night before." William
First off, thanks for the comment on my site, and I don't mean to come off too strong, I just LOVE the show (and the office, and a couple others that I DVR), but I want to say that the whore speech was justified because she hadn't even had sex with Finn! I'd be mad if my married ex was acting all jealous and snippy for no reason.
It is going to be a long summer of deal or no deal for casey and I!

At the end of the show Dan and I were chanting "Die Denny Die."

I was disgusted by Meredith and Derek. They both need to spend some time showering with brillo pads. Yuck. Derek officially makes my skin crawl when he looks at Meredith OVER HIS WIFE'S SHOULDER.

Izzy was beyond annoying. I really hated the direction her character went. The Izzy at the end of the season wasn't the same Izzy who kicked ass and told everyone to piss off when they found out she was a model.

My husband thinks Callie has "man hands." That is the nicest comment I can share.

Alex may be a pig but he loves Izzy and he "manned up" at the end to be there for her.

Oh and I wanted to bitch slap Yang. I ope Burke dumps her ass and never lets her see another surgery.

I've been wondering if the chief was leaving and if Burke would get his job?

Ok I am so addicted to this show that I have come back to read the comments multiple times today.

That my friends is why I mentioned when I wrote about it tuesday that I totally need a life. I am way way way too addicted to this show!

THANK YOU. Perfect.

hmmm. I do think Izzy totally crossed over at the end there, and I agree she doesn't seem to be the same one who stood up to Alex at the outset, though she has always been a softie.

I hated Yang for leaving, too, and I foresee Burke having a new outlook with his brush-with-paralysis and seeing her through new eyes.

But as to Meredith - I agree that McDreamy is at least as much at fault as she. He knew how hurt and still hung up she was, and the very week after he tells her they are done, he pulls a 180 because he sees her with someone else? Too late, buddy, you can't have your wife and eat Meredith too. I don't feel as bad towards her because while it might hurt that vet guy, they are just starting out and she hasn't even slept with him yet.

First of all, McDreamy is a) a loser b) a pussy and c) a whore! He's the married one, isn't he? He isn't even hot (unlike that smokin' hot plastic surgeon guy from New York from earlier this season who was trying to get Sponge Addison Grumpy Pants back). I call him Dr. McAss. Second of all, Izzy looked fabulous in her grief-ensconced prom gown. Third of all, I think you couldn't pin your finger on the person who Denny reminds you of because the person he looks like and reminds you of is.... YOU! Mwah ah ah...

That previous anonymous post was from me. In my self-righteous typing fury I apparently forgot to enter my info.

LOST is one of the best shows I've ever watched. We own the first season and are watching it through again with a friend who hasn't seen it.

While totally addicted to the show, I'm wondering about the sudden, last minute-ish personality changes in a lot of the characters. I realize the producers feel they need a cliff-hanger to bring the audience back, but no one seems to be changing for the better, except for Alex.

First- let me share that Charlotte said I had to read this post because then I would love you--- I already liked you so I read your thoughts.....Oh you are my McBlogger now. That is your new name. I agree with almost everything and I posted a comment on the Grey's Blog that if they drag out this love triangle even one episode into the new season I am going to stop watching. That was a lie. Sometimes you have to scare them to get what you want. OKay- now that we know I am as weak as Izzie..let us make one more point. Meredith clearly said that Mc Dreamy could not CALL her a whore. She is a whore. She knows she is a whore. She is at peace with being a whore. She likes it. She likes IT alot. But Dremayass does not get to CALL her a whore when he has sampled the goods and CLEARLY wants some mo o'dat. YEAH. That is all.

***This comment was intended as a joke. (mostly) Any and all references to the characters' character should be taken with a grain of salt. Preferably from a rim of a margarita glass.

I've only seen Grey's Anatomy once, but I guess if the world has to have sluts and whores, you could do worse than Meredith.

You know, if you're going to throw your marriage in the toilet, it would somehow seem worse to do it for a woman who forgot to brush her tooth last week.

Great, great post! I love Grey's too. But, I really was hoping that Denny would get all better and become this big awesome studly man for Izzy and stay on the show. I think they could have made him work with the show really well. Oh well. I love analysis of the characters!

Denny reminds me of Robert Downey, Jr.....

I love that show. That was an interesting take on it. I think Denny should have lived so I could see what would happen when he got out of the hospital. I was so DYING when Merd and McDreamy got it on. He is pretty sexy, ya know.
PS. Another show that I totally die for...Nip Tuck. It is a wow...steamy, crazy, way out there show. I know it is really risque, but I love it.

AHHHH NO!!! I live in Australia now, and we are behind on most shows, including Grey's Anatomy which is a must-see for me...and this week's episode was the one where Izzy decides to cut Denny's machines off...*sigh* I saw the post and thought "Oh no, I can't read this!" And as I went to move to your next post my eyes caught the words "Denny dies"! Now I am trying to keep my eyes off the rest of the post, and all the comments discussing the show.

I, however, love your blog, and currently reading through all your archived posts (as I just found this site recently). Although, when the next season of Grey's Anatomy starts, I may have to take a Poop and Boogies hiatus or something ;)
