Many thoughts, conversations, and situations hit me on a daily basis in which I think,“I could blog about that.” Some of the stories I have no problem sitting down and typing out from my mental notes. But more often than not my mental pen runs out of mental ink and I cannot, for the life of me, remember what I wanted to post.
In an effort to prevent the serious memory loss, Lauren bought me a mini-recorder so I can document the stories for later recall. Sometimes when the recorder is not around I will call my voice mail, or the answering machine and leave a message for myself to remind myself about what happened.
When I do talk into my recorder or I leave myself a voicemail I always say “Seeya” or “Goodbye” to myself. It goes like this, "Hey don't forget to write about the tree service guy. Seeya." or "Umm, Hey. Remember about our trip to Lowes for the bumper things. Bye."
Lauren finds this to be extremely funny that I greet myself and say goodbye to myself.

I find that humorous as well!
Thats a good way to remember though!
And isnt this some kind of record. Commenting first two days in a row! Woo Hoo!
I think it's respectful...keeps ya in check ya know....incase you're talking to someone else.
Now as long as you don't call yourself just to talk to yourself on the phone..cause then I would be worried.
or if you tell yourself "love ya"
then I'd worry about that too.
hi and goodbyes are ok i would say.
Holy crap. I do the exact same thing. Except it's not about blog things, it's more about every day things...
"Hey, don't forget to scoop the cat poops....toodles"
I didn't think much of it, 'til you commented on it being weird.
Thanks so much.
No, you're not crazy....I always wondered about that myself...
When I was little and I wrote a diary I'd always say "Love, Effie" at the end...I considered it like little letters....
If you're feeling rather forgetful, do you say "Bill--don't forget this time doh-head" or something to that effect? Teehee
OMG! You tell her to stop laughing right now. I do that all the time! But the thing is I don't recognize my voice on the machine when I get home so I started saying this when I call.."Hey Stace..it's me, Stace..remember...blah blah blah" My DH about died laughing one day when he heard..now I just carry a little diary thing in my purse, or call my cell phone. Too funny. I'm not laughing at you Bill! Love the recorder idea! Stacie
Oh yeah...and I always say Love ya or something like that..guess I just don't hear Love ya enough! LOL weird. Stacie
I also am amused. But you forgot to tell yourself you love you. LOL!
Have a great weekend!
Lois Lane
I can't say i've ever done that. I've got a mind like a trap...
aaah... who am i kidding, My mind doesn't work like it used to and i never thought of calling myself.
GOOD idea!
Oh, my. I don't know what to say about this. Hmmm... I mean, I talk to myself, but I don't tape it. I write notes to myself, but I don't put, "Dear Kami."
Huh.
It's good manners, my friend! Your upbringing frobids you from hanging up after leaving a voicemail message without saying "goodbye." My wife suffers from the same affliction. When we're home and she wants to leave a message for herself at work, she'll sometimes even end the message by saying, "Ok. Have a nice day." Too funny!
Yes, that is completely funny! Once I overheard Rob leaving a message for someone, and he stated a whole paragraph of information and then said "Rob." and then hung up. And I said, "Did you just sign your name audibly?" And then I DIED laughing. I am laughing out loud right now just thinking about it.
The recorder is a good thing, I have one myself but I would be more inclined to call myself goober-head or yoyo or some other silly something. ec
that was a hoot.
i keep a notepad in my purse - not that i use it - as i think i have a mind like a steel trap (more like a collander...)
might have to start the VM thing. i think it's brilliant.
Shaun's brother is a police officer and in your first few years of being a cop you get the option of being "Chip" the chipmunk that goes around to schools/fairs/community events and shakes and takes pictures with people.
Shaun's brother said, "I know this is weird, but inside the chipmunk suit...when people take pictures with me...i'm smiling."
I love you Bill!
The giant chipmunk shakes HANDS, not just shakes.
Now that would be funny to see huh?
Oh man, i'm all rattled up today.
Yeah, but do you say "I love you!" ?
It's amusing, but I wouldn't stop doing it. :)
Wait... when you leave messages to yourself, do you say "Hi. It's me"? I probably would. :)
Funny. No point in being rude to yourself. I sometimes leave myself messages at home that start off with "Hey idiot...", which is completely uncalled for
That is freaking hilarious.
My boss calls his voicemail and leaves messages all the tim to himself, generally in the middle of the night he'll call his office line and leave himself a voicemail reminder to do something. I nearly fell off my chair the first time I heard on the speaker phone one morning: "Hi Bill, this is Bill. Calling to remind you..." and it's my boss's voice. Freaky, but funny!
I fid it hilarious as well!
i forget sometimes that lauren's pregnant again! hope that's all going along well! happy new year's to all three (and-a-half) of ya'll!!!
You're such a considerate communicator.
I like this. I think you should embellish a bit, though. Like "Oh, and you look really hot today," or "Hey, have I told you how much I appreciate all you do for me?" pwahahaahaaaa
Hey, now your how old?.....that happens to my group of people.... see I would record it and forget where the recorder was..... it really isn't age so much as a busy life....there is so much to do and remember....you better rest that brain, because when Max starts playing ball or whatever other activity, you will be lucky to remember your name.....
I don't have one of those, but I'm glad you brought this up. I am sometimes up until 3am cause I have insomnia, and when I am, I mostly think about blogging. What I am hearing here is that you think way too much about it too which makes me feel way better. Couse you must cause you're so great at it.
My hub was once holding me while talking to his boss (and I was "bugging him") and went to say bye and said "I love you." He was so mad at me. Hee. The next morning, everyone started saying "I love you" to him. They never stopped. He said it made it a much friendlier place to work. :)
You should have gotten that with the Florida tags on it too... still, very funny. Especially since it was warmer here.
So, what are you doing for spring break? :)
