Snakes, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails.
We spent about an hour down by (and in) the creek. While we were there I realized that I say both "creek" and "crick" depending on the situation.
How do you pronounce it?

It's "creek". Same sound my knees make.
"Crick" is what I get in my neck when I sleep wrong.
Wonderfully delightful pics! Looks like a river to me!
Those are great photos.
Those pictures reminded me of a little "fear" I had growing up. After watching my favorite movie "Lonesome Dove" for the first time, I got worried about water moccasin's when I was tubing down the river. Hope those boys stay clear of them! :-)
I, like you, say both creek and crick depending on situation...
I too waver between creek and crick -- depends on where I am and the size of the creek/crick.
Creek.
Looks like they had a blast! Great pictures!
only creek for me.
Spent many a day down in the crick playing in the wudur
For me...A creek is flowing area of water, where more than just a few people visit. A crick is something kids sort of stumble onto while exploring, a much smaller stream of water winding through back woods. So, I say both too I guess.
I say it both ways, as well.
I like how you caught them in the air. It's almost like they're walking on water.
Maybe it's a "philadelphia" thing to say "crick"??!?!?
I don't think it's a Philly thing to say crick, because when I'm here I say creek. But back in Minnesota, especially when talking with my family members who actually have these bodies of water on the property they own? I say crick. If I said creek to them they'd look at me funny.
I say both also... but use "creek" more.
We don't have any creeks down here. So I spend most of my time in a VAN down by the RIVER!
great photos! looks like a good time...
back home in Upstate Rural NY, I say "crick" anywhere else in the free world I've been so far?
Its "creek"
Burn. We have burns in Scotland. Anything bigger than a burn is a river.
It's a creek. I only say "crick" when I'm making fun of a northerner.
And those pix are delightful.
I say creek. I also so roooof. But if I am really tired, you might catch me saying dawg. And sometimes I can drag it into two syllables.
Stream.
my goodness...
your boys are too damn cute!
here, it's crEEk....
It's definitely a crick if you ask this (ex)country boy. :D
William,
I have always thought you were kind of a deek.
Creeeeek.
"Creek" when I'm trying to not sound so much like I was raised in the country (Ohio and WV) but "crick" is still what I naturally want to say. Great photos!
i say creek.
I say creek. My Yankee relatives (Pennsylvania) say crick. My very southern redneck husband loves this. Because the yankees say us southerners talk funny.
Fun photos!
I grew up in Minnesota and South Dakota and have always pronounced it "creek".
I grew up in Massachusetts and it's always been "creek". "Crick" is like patience said, something I get in my neck when I sleep wrong.
Like you, it depends on the situation... and probably the accent of whoever I happen to be with!
My little contest is running through the end of the week... it is for a good cause and I'd love to see you enter!
My 14 year old fishes in the creek often. I have never heard of a crick other thaan in my neck. Im from Texas.
River or Stream is how I would say one of those things, depending on size.
Fantastic photos! :)
i say crick.
great pics!!!
What is a creek?
Really, I live in the desert and am not sure I've seen one.
The Maid
Crick.
Unless I'm with my husband. Then I say "creek". Because he's like all from the fancy part of town and can't abide my redneck ways.
Unless I'm wearing my spurs.
Then he's all like "say it however you want, Honey."
I love the levitation photos!! You must have great reflexes or a great camera.
Here in Oklahoma we say CREEEEK
I say creek and I'm from CT. I always thought crick was a southern thing. AND SOMO - Thanks for the laugh!!! Van down by the river - best skit EVER!
Awesome, awesome shots. Oh, and they're awesome.
Sometimes I get a crick in my neck after playing in the creek all day. Watch out for the leeches.
Love the first pic of the boy in mid jump... perfect!
creek.
Love the photos.
