Saving Body Parts

Lauren and I were talking about the boys playing with their toys.

"I was playing with Max and Wyatt, with their guys, and I was amazed that they just want to keep smashing the guys together."

"I know. Wyatt's fingers kept getting hurt."

"I guess it is a boy thing. Bill, can you do me a favor?" Lauren asked. "When a toy breaks, just throw it out. You know, if it is broken beyond repair."

"Sure." I said.

"I keep finding broken toys."

I know. I have habit of saving all the broken pieces. Then I forget what they go to and I hold onto them. I end up carrying the pieces in my pockets for days hoping to discover what they belong to. As soon as I throw out the little piece, the very next day I realize what toy it went to."

"Well, for now on, just throw the stuff out." Lauren said.

She then added, "Tomorrow I am going to go through their figure box and look for all the miscellaneous body parts."

This is a picture of the current contents of my pocket...

...and miscellaneous body parts.

You could totally create some sort of mutant out of those parts.

Don't throw them out!

I was gonna say the same thing - time to create a new superhero! Although mutant is probably more accurate.

I'm with James and kalki- you could have one super bad-ass mother-of-all action figures on your hands!

You could build those creepy toys under the bed in 'Toy Story'

Yeah, this is totally an opportunity for building. Maybe some super glue. It will be awesome!

Ha! I was going to ask how hard it could possibly be to find Spiderman and put his leg back on... but then I remembered what my youngest son's room looks like and I have to say, I'm with Lauren on this.

Unless of course you want to go all Toy Story on us.

Grab an old shoe box and stick the body and other parts into it when you find them. Once a week or month grab that shoe box and see if you can recreate a limbless figure or two. If you can, make the owner somehow 'pay' for getting it back.

I have 4 girls, so they don't break anything, but they do 'lose' or leave little things lying around after being told to put them away. So I put them in a shoe box and weekly call them to order. If they want the item back, they have to do an extra chore.

Of course, I find hugs and kisses are great payments too.

I have Gandalf's right leg around here somewhere . . .

Some days, I feel like Herbert West!

I have a billion and six of those sorts of things as well...and a child that finds "treasures" each and every day and must keep them, somewhere. Usually in my bathroom drawer.

My daughter, having three older brothers, plays the same way. I used to try and play "fairies" with her and she would just fly the fairies through the air and make them smash into each other and make all these loud crashing and booming sounds.

I am pretty tom-boyish myself and also had three older brothers, but I tried to get her to be more calm and do "fluttery" things...she would have none of it! I tried that once and then just let her play with them however she wanted to. Who am I to stifle her creativity...if that is what a person can call it:)

I hate when I throw the part away only the find the missing part a day later! ARG!

What are those things? With 4 girls, I've never seen most of them! However, in my pockets you'll find Polly Pocket clothes, the cap to sparkly pink lipstick, an earring, 3 pink feathers and a Little People princess.

I recognize a possible part to a Transformer, definitely some Spidey parts, a possible Bionicle part (maybe a leg?)

I do the same thing you do. I've constantly got some figure up on the hutch, waiting for the glue to dry on it. Isaac has an action figure duffle bag and the bottom looks very similar to your pocket contents. haha.

My daughter plays differently, for sure. Packing as many little "treasures" into her purse or bag of the day and carrying it around all day. The items are all random and do not go together, but to her they do.

I see a collage in the making. But then I am very arty farty like that, don't you know.
I think you should have Spidey's head in your pocket for good luck.

Ha! We have a little plastic container with similar broken objects inside. It's kept on "Hubby's counter" so he can fix them. He's the fixer. Of course, if he doesn't get around to fixing, the "thrower-outer" comes along and takes care of the broken (and by now forgotten) toy. Guess who that is?

Where are all of the broken McDonald's Happy Meal toys? My kids have a metric ton of that crap stashed all over the house and when I attempt to throw it out they sqeal in agony. Thus late night trash bag foraging trips through their playroom. Somewhere a landfill is named after my boys- I'll probably burn in hell for it too!
