Maxfield, over the past few weeks, has really been coming into his own as a person. His tantrums are fewer and far between. He responds to questions and requests after only the third time being asked as opposed to the old 8 or 9 times being asked. He is more creative with his playtime and he is becoming more independent. He now initiates conversations on his own and does not need to be prodded to have a discussion. He is growing into a very sweet young boy.
Last night Lauren and I were discussing the boys and Max’s progress. She said, “Max has really turned a corner with his behavior. He is so sweet. Wyatt however has turned a completely different corner.”
I had to laugh.
Wyatt is now in spring training for the terrible twos. He is taking his training camp very seriously, well, because practice makes perfect. He has been working diligently at his screaming technique. He also has perfected the “collapse to the floor in a sobbing heap bang his head on the floor in the process only to scream louder because now his head hurts” fit. He does need to improve his method of preventing us from getting him into his car seat. Right now his body goes rigid like 2 by 4 and he makes it impossible for us to buckle the safety straps but he is easily distracted and eventually we get him in his seat. Wyatt also need some work on his “NO!” delivery. It comes out crystal clear but his overall consistency and frequency of use is not quite there yet.
It’s okay he still has about six weeks until he turns two so he has plenty of time to work on it.

Ah, the passing of the torch. Our boys are growing up.
Spring Training is important. Don't want them throwing out their voice on day one. You gotta work into it.
I am convinced that is what happened to Rod Stewart's voice. He thought he was ready for screaming before he really was and blew it out.
At least they take turns. My oldest skipped the terrible twos. He preferred the terrible threes...and the very same time his brother did the terrible twos.
hmmm, is that why I waited an additional year to have boy number three?
I feel the same way about Nathan, but thank goodness I get a bit of respite before Alex decides to turn that terrible corner.
I was hoping that wasn't what Katrina was doing, training for the terrible twos, when she crumples into a heap on the floor and nearly always hits her head when she wants something--I hope she doesn't go full force into the twos too soon...
Oh, and he'll be TWO for a l-o-n-g time, won't he? :)
I've found that four years old is twice as bad as two years old.
I think your Wyatt and my Lulu just might be able to take over the world if they ever got together, LMAO!!!!!! She hit the "terrible twos" like a freaking brick wall. It's a good thing she's so darned cute! God's a tricky, tricky dude. And smart :X
Entering the terrible twos is a transition that my family affectionately refers to as:
Twoberty.
We feel it is much more painful and involves a lot more screaming than puberty, and the child is a mess too. :0)
The other bad news, as your readers have told you, is that twoberty can last for years.
My condolences.
Becky, the maid.
Collapse to the floor in a sobbing heap...
Thought of you when I saw this:

Enjoy
Lol. I remember those days. I am so thankful car seats are a thing of the past. Now if I can just get them to wash their own hair.
LOL my 18 month old is in training camp too!!! i love the it's the end of the world if you don't give me that cookie wail!
Becky.... nice video -
of course, he could also fall into this category:

Not sure if boys will sit like girls will but my angel (when she's taking a break from the terrible twos) likes SitCalm.com
Peanut has mastered the 2x4 in a carseat routine WHILE using her perfected screaming technique. Makes for a great attention getter in the mall parking lot.
ok...since we're sharing youtube vids, I think this is how my two boys are going to turn out....
what about yours??

How old is Max now because Liam is driving me OUT of my MIND with the negatives and just the whining alone. AAAH! Also for the car - I learned a trick which works if they are ticklish. When Shea straightens out I tickle his stomach, even if he doesn't FEEL like laughing, his body still responds by doubling over. Click!
Just about the time we figure out how to handle our kids, their personalities change completely...again.
Wait till eleven. It is the age of satan.
Wow, my daughter will be two in six weeks also and this sounds EXACTLY like her. I guess they're in the same training cramp.
I'm just glad that he has a good role model. Imagine if they both still threw fits all the time.
Eeek.
