My kid's new favorite show is Yo Gabba Gabba. Every time I watch the show I can't help but think that someone watched Dee Lite's Groove Is In The Heart video and thought, "Wow. This would make a great kids television show."
The show takes place in a play world where five miniature toys come to life. The five toys, to me at least, resemble some of the monsters from the Ultra Man , Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, and the Space Giants TV shows from the 70's.
The show claims that it is about "life-lessons with a beat."
They have special guests in each episode that includes the likes of Tony Hawk, Elijah Wood, and Biz Markie ( Oh baybeee, Yoooo Got what I need).
Biz Markie does the segment Biz's Beat of the Day where he teaches kids Beatboxing. My son Wyatt, who is not even two years old yet, has become quite the beatboxer.
I am not sure what life-lessons he has learned but he sure has got the whole vocal percussion thing down.

If you ever lose your job, you can put Wyatt out on the street to beat box for money!
Weird. Mama Drama just posted about this today on Playdate. must try and find out when it's on in my area.
Gimme the beat box and free my soul, I want to get lost in your....
omg. my 5 year old has been beat boxing also. That show freaks me out and she loves it. I call it 'yo crappa crappa'.
Don't tell anyone, but my husband and I like to TiVo it and watch it when we're stoned. (really, I don't think it's meant for kids!)
Yo Gabba Gabba freaked me out the first time I saw it with Katrina, and yet, she was somewhat mesmerized with it and the constant "We like to dance" sing-song they had...and she got up and danced...she's such a cutie-pie!
yeah...that show scares me.
and I thought I was the only one in the whole world to remember Ultra Man!!!
Oh how the shows have changed since we were kids. I guess they have to keep trying something new.
Whatever happened to GI Joe and the "old" Transformers.
I sound like my granddad saying - those were the good ole days.
That's a REAL show?! I saw that on TV once and thought it was a spoof of some sort. Wow.
Oh and thanks...now I have that thick tongue sounding "Oh baybeee, Yooo got what I need" lyric stuck in my head.
My little girl LOVES this show as well! It's kind of bizarre, but after we watched it a couple of times, my husband and I have become pretty attached. He's a pilot, so out of town a lot, and has admitted to watching it in his hotel room! His favorite part is by far Biz's Beat of the Day, though I kinda like the "party in my tummy" segments - So yummy!
Beat boxing, sharing and not hitting. The cornerstones of a good child.
Is Whyatt beatboxing or just blowing raspberries?
The favorite around our house is "WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE - HOOOLD STIIILLL!!!" or "There's a party in my tummy, so yummy, so yummy!" But I guess they work for getting my kids to sit still while I cut fingernails or to eat instead of dawdle at the dinner table.
I hate that show....with a passion. I'd rather watch Dora, Diego, Mickey or even Teletubbies. lol That's pretty bad.
Came via Stacie.
Beat box is a lost art, man.
We love Yo, Gabba Gabba also. I use to love to hear people beatbox. Now days, it is cute when it is a child, but to see a grown adult spitting everywhere, it grosses me out.
Just wanted to say thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Get to see Dr. Personality again today.
do you think its too early to teach braden how to beat box?
when and where can i find this yo gabba gabba?
Cool parents let their kids learn beat boxing on MTV Raps yo. LOL! Do they even make that show anymore?
When the girls must watch Gabba Gabba I make sure I'm cleaning something. Preferrably in another room. With a vacuum.
Now there's a party in my tummy! (So yummy, so yummy!) Yeah, a PARTY in my tummy! (So yummy, so yummy!)
What? Like you didn't immediately know it was Brobee...
I keep meaning to watch that show! Declan's heart still belongs to the Wiggles, though.
That show makes my head hurt. My wife told me about this new show that the girls love, well I was off on Tuesday this week and got my first taste. A few things crossed my mind:
1. Whoever created that show must have been on acid.
2. I feel bad for the people inside the suits. They appear so restrictive, and you know they are saying "Well, it's an acting job."
3. I smiled to the girls and said "That's nice, sweeties. Daddy has to get some cotton balls."
4. DJ Lance has got to be a failed rap star, or super-gay.
5. That I'll soon see Yo Gabba Gabba action figures in my house soon.
To each their own, though. I find myself (embarrassingly) humming a Doodlebops song at random points during the day, so I ain't close to perfect either.
