Emergency

Jackson, while playing with the cordless phone, dialed 911. I have no idea how long he was on the phone with the 911 operator. The call took place right after bath time. Lauren and I were busy drying off the kids and dressing them in their pajamas. Besides Jackson's incomprehensible 20 month old babbling I am sure the 911 operator heard all kinds of talk from the boys about heinies, tushies and bu-utts (pronounced with two syllables as in "Max, see my bu-utt." ((one syllable for each cheek waved in front of his face)).

We are thankful that the officer dispatched is one of our neighbors who knows us.

I was just thinking maybe it's safe to teach Nathan to dial 911. We've avoided it for exactly that reason :)

Oh my gosh, this totally happened to us. My daughter played with my Blackberry constantly, but when locked, it has that feature where you can make an emergency call. And, she did. Fortunately, I heard her having a semi-coherent conversation and cut it off, getting a scolding from 911 in the process. But at least I didn't get an actual visit.

At least he's a baby, you can explain the situation as completely accidental. When my son and his friend were 12, they dialed 911 to report what they thought was a fake $5 bill given to them for a school fundraiser by a neighbor. (It was just the new style bill with more colors.) Yeah. That was fun when the squad car pulled up.

Tell Jackson I'm really impressed with his mad phone skee-ulz!

Eclectic has a funny story. A twelve year old! Did he ever confess to the neighbor? That made me laugh out loud! Jackson was looking for a way to dodge the bath. Typical boy! You guys are so funny. Glad I can always get a laugh here on this blog. Either that or cry a tear. This is much better! Much more to come in the life of sons. Hope you're prepared!

My sister was a 911 dispatcher. She said you could tell when the schools teach about 911 because she got waves of kid's phone calls. (They always ask to talk to the kid's Mom or Dad and then the kid usually gets all guilty and hangs up. Then 911 calls back or sends someone.) Happens a lot.

I taught my daughter that if there is no grown-up in the house that can help you AND it's a big emergency, then it's okay to call, but try to get the grown-up first.

...And if Dad's the grown-up and he's asleep, it's okay to wake him up. And if it's an emergency, you can dump water on him to wake him up.

it could've been so much worse, some areas charge $$ for "false alarms" like that

When we would have an "emergency"Johnny and Roy would be called.
