Greatest Invention

I would have to rank the alarm clock, that my MIL gave us for Christmas, somwhere after Television but before the computer as one of the greatest inventions ever.

This clock can project the time on the cieling or wall so you don't have to actually roll over to see the time. This clock just made the act of sleeping, lazier. How cool is that?

What happens when it is 11:34. That may scare you one morning that you are in the wrong place.

But it is backwards.

I have wanted one of those for some time...my grandparents had one and I thought it was so cool. I might have to just pull the trigger and take one down.

Oooo, cool!

But I'd still have to do math to figure out the correct time...

Heehee at anonymous' comment...very clever.

I could have used one of those last night. Big D was sick and I kept having to wake up, lean over him, and check the time to see how many hours he had gone without throwing up. After a while, I got tired of having to sit all the way up to see the time...I kind of wanted to make him sleep on the floor so I could see the clock better...but that wouldn't have been nice. I suppose the next option was to move the clock, but that would have taken to much effort.

We have one of those and I LOVE it! I hate it when we travel and don't have it with us because I am so used to looking at it at night.

I had one, but my eye sight is so horrible I can't read the projection in bed without glasses so the usefulness is completely lost on me. Sad.

Yes, that is. Funny, I am only 30 something and I suddenly cannot focus on the clock numbers, watch numbers, letters on paper....don't have on my glasses now, so who knows what I am typing!

William,

As the writer of the popular and informative parenting blog, Poop and Boogies, I thought you might be interested in a NEW book, Healthy Child Healthy World: Creating a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Home by Christopher Gavigan, CEO of the nation's leading nonprofit for children's environmental health - Healthy Child Healthy World / www.healthychild.org.

In a time where more than 125 million Americans, especially children, face a historically unprecedented rise in chronic disease and illness such as cancer, autism, asthma, birth defects, ADD / ADHD, and learning and developmental disabilities, it is important for everyone to begin looking for preventative measures and daily solutions to keep children and families safe and healthy. This book will act as an essential playbook for parents to create a healthy, nontoxic, and environmentally sound home.

Building on the credible science and easy solutions, what sets this book apart are the long list of health experts and notable parents contributing their voices/essays. These contributing "voices" and stories are selectively added to the book to build on the approachable and fresh tone. Contributing folks include Meryl Streep (writing the foreword), Gwyneth Paltrow, Bill McDonough, Tom Hanks, Dr. Phil Landrigan, Tobey Maguire, Dr. Sandra Steingraber, Laura Dern, Dr. Alan Greene, Courteney Cox, Vanessa Williams, Erin Brockovich, Dr. Harvey Karp, Keri Russell, Brooke Shields, Dr. David Orr, Michelle Obama, Dr. Theo Colborn, Sheryl Crow, Gayle King and a quite a few more.

For more information – please see more attached information.

I have been reading your blog for a month or so and it has become one of my favorites. I also grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania (Boyertown, PA) and feel very nostalgic when you mention Pennsylvania. I have been living in Los Angeles for 5 years now and frequently visit back home to see my parents. It truly is a wonderful state to grow up in. I am very passionate about protecting the environment, particularly with regard to the way it impacts children's health and have been working with Healthy Child Healthy World, a nonprofit organization that helps to spread the world about potential threats to children's health and smart choices to protect them from exposure.

Because of the synergy between your topics and our organization, we would be grateful if you would write a review of the book on your blog. If you agree, please respond and we will quickly send out a copy of the book for your review.

Warm wishes,

Meg Leidy

So wait...

If your head is on the pillow looking up, wouldn't the numbers be backwards? Wouldn't that be 81:6?

(Am I just overthinking things?)

Anonymous said...

LOL... you can reverse the image so that the numbers face the right way when laying in bed.

I like it, i luv it...gotta have it. I would no longer have to ask the better half if it's time to feed the babies in the middle of the night...because god forbid I actually lift my precious skull from the pillow & check the clock myself.

I am all for lazier sleeping.

Can you program it to say other things? You are SO totally late! or something?

Unknown said...

Oh! Make it say "No, really... you might as well just stay in bed all day today. You can try to get up tomorrow."

I just got myself one, and it's so great. I don't even have to roll over to see the time, just kind of crack open one eyeball and point it in the general direction of the ceiling.

Unknown said...

See, I think (especially given my history of night terrors) that would scare the bejuzus out of me!!!

That IS cool, but you know what I've always wanted? One of those Zen alarm clocks, that's supposed to gently rouse you from slumber one level of consciousness at a time...But hot damn are they pricey. Zen can be expensive sometimes. :)

Creative-Type Dad said...

Wow, that's cool.

That could have all kinds of uses - like projecting the time on people's butts...

Ali said...

"I before E, except after C"

Did you not learn this in elementary school? Just giving you a bad time! They really need to get that Blogger spellcheck working again!

I HAVE THIS CLOCK! I got one of these for Christmas and it is SO awesome, I don't know how I lived without it! It truly is the greatest invention. I hated having to sit up in the middle of the night to blearily squint over my husband to see the clock. Now I just have to look up. It's so nice. Or maybe I'm just that lazy.

I have only one word for this post...

WANT!

I love this thing! I kind of want one, but then again, I hate seeing the time while I'm in bed b/c it reminds me of having to wake up for work. hah
