You would think that after six months of having the child safety locks on the cabinets in the kitchen, that I would not try to open the cabinets the regular way.
But everyday while putting away the dishes, I just grab the handle to cabinet door and pull. It opens an inch and then "clack" it gets stuck. I curse under my breath and I think "Why do I think that the locks know when an adult is trying to open the cabinet?" I fight with the latch, and open the cabinet, and put the dish away.
Then, 30 seconds later, I will go to put another dish away and just pull on another cabinet door. "Clack". It gets stuck. It is an endless cycle.

Amen.
If our children didn't take half of our brains with them upon birth, we might could remember such things.
Teeheehee!
I loathe child proof anything. Just keep the kids locked in their rooms.
Yeah, you would think!
Y'know...we never did that childproofing in the kitchen thing. We kept Christopher out of the kitchen entirely (it was a galley kitchen in an apartment, with only one way in or out) when he was little, and when Sophie was rugrat aged, I just put tupperware and non-lethal stuff in the cabinets she could reach.
But yeah...in the bathroom...I ALWAYS forgot about the childlock on the vanity cabinet!
Same goes for me, everything is childproofed, and I can't get in. Mrs. Whisperer even child proofed her clothes, I can't get them to come off either.
You think that's fun?! Wait until you take the locks off (right about the time that you get used to having them on there) and *SHWOOSH!!* the door comes flying open. ;)
wait till you take the locks off then put extra muscle into opening the cupboard and hit yourself in the head with it. Thats always fun! LOL Stacie
ps..you could always ask Maxfield to open it for you. My kids were always the only ones that could open childproof anything around here!
ps again. Hey! Did you childproof the word verification? I am on my 3rd try.
Ha, thats because your a man...... whoops sorry............lol
I do exactly the same thing, almost every time.
Ha, lawnwhisperer made me laugh!
I do the same thing. We put child locks on our laundry chute door (b/c the cats like to fall down it otherwise) and EVERY TIME I forget that dang thing is there.
You are funny.
Very. Short. Memory. Reel.
(I function the same way)
We put a gate up in the kitchen door and said "stay out"... Now we don't have to worry about that.
See, while you are keeping the dishes safe from the kid, the kid is secretly laughing at you and your inability to remember to delatch the lock first. After he is done making a mockery out of you Max is probably dipping your toothbrush in the toilet while you continue struggling.
Lois Lane
LOL! You are not alone! It is always the kids that can figure the darn things out, too!
I do the same thing. Every. Time.
