Grundle

For the most part, I handle giving the kids their baths. Some nights I treat them like pots and pans that have crusted burnt cheese stuck to them and I just let them soak. Other nights I give them a good cleaning making sure I scrub all their nooks and crannies.

Maxfield has been testing his independence lately and has been asking to wash himself. I started a little game with the kids to make sure that Max washes every part of his body as I wash Wyatt. I ask both Max and Wyatt where certain parts of their bodies are and then he uses the soap and wash cloth to clean that part.

"Where are your shoulders?" I ask.

I clean Wyatt's shoulder and then Max scrubs his shoulders.

"Where is your collar bone?"

He will then scrub his neck and upper chest.

"Where is your arm pit? Good job. Where is your bicep? Okay now wash your elbow pit. Now wash your forearm and your wrist?"

Elbow Pit? Yes. That is what I call the area between the bicep and forearm? Is there a name for it?

The other night we were playing this game and I was introducing new words to them. Instead of saying leg I told them to wash their shins and then their calves.

"Wash your thighs. Good Job. Now your knees. Okay, wash your shins. That is the front part of your lower leg."

"Shins?" Max asked.

"Yes. Shins and the back part is called your calf. Now wash your ankles. This part on your ankle is called the Achilles." I said and I pointed to it. "Now wash your knee pit."

We were finishing up when I told Max to wash his groin.

"Gwoin" He said. "What's that?"

"That's the area between your legs around your penis. And the area under your penis, that is your grundle."

"Gwundle? That's a silly word. I will call it my penis pit."

My husband calls it his "mucket", which is just a nasty word, in my opinion. I think I will suggest "grundle". Although, "penis pit" is just plain hilarious.

Penis pit. That evokes so many . . . thoughts! None of them particularly good.

Had to laugh out loud for that one!

Can't wait to hear about the phone call you get from the school nurse talking about his "Penis Pit".

You know it is coming.

The "Penis Pit". Is that where the kids from Beverly hills 90210 hung out?

Wow. Just, wow. Out here, we have them wash the bum, privates, and then between bum and privates. I feel like such an anatomical failure.

I shudder to think of the kinds of people/google search terms this post is going to attract...

I have just spent the last bit catching up on your blog and you/your life is just as funny as ever. I laughed out loud when I read "penis pit"- hilarious!

You are lucky, my sons came back from a summer at their grandparents calling that area "the weiner dog."

Such a good dad you are! ;)
Katrina is very independent about everything already, but just recently she learned a word, "Help" but it sounds more like "Hep" and she'll say it when whatever she's doing (or trying to do all by herself, which is everything) is too hard--so cute!

Taking note for future reference.

Just to confirm...is the "grundle" the same or different from the "taint?"

I'm the primary bather for my boys, too...just looking for clarification should I need to break out this term.

My son says "under his balls." It's simple.

Love it!
By the way...elbow pit is called the cubital fossa. Just telling you so you know.

What? You gave up a perfectly good opportunity to teach your boys about balls???

We went out to dinner one night at an italian restaurant and the waitress came and asked my son what he wanted.

Spagetti, he replies.

With meat sauce or meat balls?

BALLS? Hysterical giggling. And I say that with a little shame, because it was from the whole table, not just the kids.

Penis pit...my husband would say that's a woman's body part...

That was HILARIOUS!

I thought the area right under the penis is called the scrotum??

At least you are teaching them the correct word for privates. I hate when people are all weird about it and teach their kids the wrong terms and/or really odd ones. Not fair to the kids and it will be a real shocker when they discover the correct terms.

Again...I am amazed that you do so much and are so involved with your kids. Sorry to be such a broken record, I just honestly can't get over what a great father you are!

I'm with Iowa about giving the correct names for body parts. My grandparent's used to use the term "Po-Po" for vagina.

So, imagine my surprise when I get into high school and the term for police officer is ALSO "Po-Po"

BTW: This post made me crack up!

90210 hangout, that's funny right there.
This is a new word for me. I googled it, and you're on the first page! Well, not YOU, I mean, that would be kind of embarrassing if I googled grundle and you popped up (like you were deranged or something). I mean this POST is on the first page.

I call my elbow pit "that place where they stick all the needles." :(

Back in the day when I was earninga C- in Anatomy, and learning to take blood pressures, we called the front side of the elbow the antecubital space.

Also I looked up grundle and found a couple websites for slang terms used by teenagers on the streets.

Perhaps you are giving your boys a heads-up on what's ahead.

Hey, my new word came in handy today! We were trying to find this new home furnishings store, and the sign at the parking lot entrance said it was "right behind the Dick's," so I was all, "It's in the grundle!"

Dude, where have I been all weekend? Why am I just seeing this now? It's most definitely called a Taint, as says goteeman.

Although, sometimes, after a day of sweat yardwork, my husband mentions his fumunda cheese. Definition: the funk"from under" there!

Awesome. The kid needs his own show.

I think 6 yr old Sweet Pea has been reading your blog. She suddenly has something called "leg pits".

You should read my latest post...speaking of body parts.

I had to send this to my husband because he will think it's hysterical and I imagine that he very well may steal that term. He named the dirt that gets in the armpits of kids/babies pit butter and that's just disgusting. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

I just laughed and laughed. Needed it too. You and your fellow bloggers are soooo funny. Thanks for the good belly laughs, guys. Momo9
