Missed Communication

Sometimes Lauren and I are so in tune with each other we can complete each others sentences, or we think of the exact same thing at the exact same time. Other times we are so not connected, that we have a hard time figuring out what the other is saying. Maybe it is due to me mumbling, Lauren being distracted or if it is just a miscommunication. Sometimes the miscommunication is funny. Here are the recent examples.

While walking into a store.

Bill: I need to find the men’s room. I gotta take a leak.
Lauren: What do you need a measuring tape for?
Bill: What? I said, “I need to find the men’s room”.
Lauren: Oh.
Bill: Do you want me to measure something while I am in there?

Over dinner.

Bill: How hot do you think this sauce is?
Lauren: How Happy?
Bill: Hot! How hot?
Lauren: I thought that was a strange question.

A few weeks ago we were over our neighbors house for dessert and coffee. It was getting close to Max’s bedtime and I really was not in the mood to socialize so I kept dropping hints to Lauren as well as the hosts that we had to get going. After a few, “Wow Max looks really tired.” And “Hey Max it’s almost time for bed.” Lauren was not picking up on my hints. At one point I turned to her, so no one else could see me, and I mouthed silently but exaggerated “LETS GO!”
Lauren not realizing that I was trying not to be rude says loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, “Sheesh Okay Bill, I heard you! Just hold on a sec.” She totally threw me under the bus.
I felt quite embarrassed.

To answer your the sauce question:

It would seem the hotter the sauce, perhaps the more angry it would be. I would think a Duck Sauce or a Sweet & Sour would be more happy than... let's say something with a Cayenne base.

Bill! Did Barry MANILOW just comment on your blog, man?!

Oh wait. Sorry, Barry. I thought you were someone else.

Is it just me, or did anyone else on the planet notice that there were Barry Manilow songs in the background on ER last week?

Umm...yeah kelli...didn't notice the Barry on ER last week.

William I think you must have a serious mumbling problem. I know my husband has such a problem as well.

I love Lauren! Any wife who tosses her hubby under the bus is my kind of people. :)

Yep, during the wedding reception it was all Barry, all the time!

Sometimes, when Pete hasn't said anything, I'll say, "Hmmmm?" He told me the other day that I ALWAYS do that when he's just about to tell me something, or is thinking of telling me something.

I could have written this post - Rob and I are the exact same way. Although he's never thrown me under the bus. Tsk tsk, Lauren.

Okay, yes he has. I just remembered. It was last evening, actually. We ran into someone I used to know a long time ago and the guy asked about a mutual friend of ours and I said, "I don't really know what she's up to - we sorta went our own ways in college." And Rob chuckled and said, "By 'went our own ways' she means they were roommates and now they hate each other's guts." Yeah okay, if I had wanted this guy to know that, I would have SAID IT MYSELF.

My kids are usually the ones keeping me humble. Guess the hub likes his sex life still... :)

Must be your fault, certainly, as I am sure your lovely wife can do no wrong.
